I have a confession. Whenever I get really stressed at work, or when I’m feeling dreary at being cooped up in the office, I sneak out during my lunch hour for a quick pick-me-up.

While some choose to use this hour to hit the gym or head to the mall for some retail therapy, I prefer a pampering beauty treatment that gives me that post-lunch glow – a facial pampering.

First up, the consultant used the advanced skin analysis system,  VISIA™, to diagnose the condition of my skin. The system brought to light some major problems like enlarged pores around my nose, developing UV spots and brown spots unseen by the naked eye, wrinkles which are creeping up to my skin’s surface. Even though I was reeling from the shock of the actual (read: highly imperfect) state of my skin, I was glad that the consultant was going to target those specific skin flaws  immediately and save my complexion from any further damages.

I was brought into a room where my relaxing lunch treat was kick-started with a double cleanse, by using a moisturising milk cleanser. Next, dead skin cells and impurities were removed with the use of a gentle scrub. When queried about a lack of facial massage, my consultant explained that everyone’s skin is unique and the treatment is customised upon their arrival every single session. As my current skin state is a mixture of combination oily skin, too much stimuli through a facial massage would likely cause it to break out.

Once extraction was complete, an ultrasound machine was used to tone the skin. Ultrasound treatment was chosen as it is more suitable for my skin and had additional anti-bacterial and exfoliating effects.
